New Business List Order Process Tutorial: (top)
You'll have your list of new businesses in just six easy steps.
As you build your new business list, the various selections you'll make through
the six steps will be displayed on the left side of the screen. If ever you
want to start over, just click the "Find New Businesses " button at the top.
Step 1: Select
the geographical area where you'll be marketing your products or services to
new businesses. Enter ZIP codes, counties, area
codes, states, FIPS codes, or Carrier Routes. You can even upload a
list of ZIP codes, area codes, etc. if you have too many to type.
Step 2: Choose
a date range for how far back in time you want to look for new businesses in your area. You can search for new business leads as far back
as six months ago.
Step 3: You
have the option here to further target your new business lists
by several company criteria. Keep in mind that while choosing company criteria will
make your list more targeted, it will reduce the number of new businesses you can reach.
Step 4: Select
the way you plan to use your list of new businesses: telemarketing, direct mail, both,
or all listings. Choosing "telemarketing" means that each record will have a
telephone number, but not necessarily a mailing address. Choosing "direct mail"
means each record will have a mailing address, but not necessarily a telephone
number. "Both" means each record will have both an address and a telephone
number. Finally, "All Listings" means you will get all available new businesses,
whether they have a valid telephone number or address.
Step 5: BrandNewBusinesses.com
will report back the total number of new new businesses in the area and date range you specified. You can save the report in both Excel and PDF format,
or print the report.
Step 6: Here,
you'll specify the file format you need for your new business leads, for example, Microsoft Excel format. Four different formats are
available.

General Help:
On this page, you will choose the geographical area where you intend to market
your goods and services to new businesses.
After clicking "Next," you will be taken to a new page where you will enter the
ZIP codes, area codes, states, etc. that you require.
Area Code:
A three digit number that generally identifies households with telephone
service in a particular region of the United States. In the following example
number, the area code is bolded: 1-863-555-7634.
Carrier Route:
A Carrier Route is a 9 digit number used by the post office to designate groups
of addresses to aid in mail delivery. Literally, it is the particular route the
mail carrier takes when delivering mail. The number consists of 5 numbers for
the ZIP Code, one letter for the carrier route type, and 3 numbers for the
carrier route number. For example "05055R003" or "12508C007."
Counties:
A county is a division within a state, usually encompassing one or more cities
or towns. Selecting this option will bring up a listing of all 50 states. Once
you select a state for your new business leads, a list of all counties in that state will appear. Simply
make your selections from that list.
FIPS Codes:
A FIPS (Federal Information Processing Standards) code is a unique 5-digit
number that is assigned by the federal government to each county in the United
States. This number is comprised of a 2-digit State code followed by a 3-digit
county code.
States:
A state is one of 50 major political divisions in the United States. Selecting
this option will bring up a checklist of all 50 states (plus the District of Columbia). Simply check the states
you wish to search to reach new businesses in your market.
ZIP Codes: A
ZIP (Zone Improvement Plan) code is used by the post office to help ensure that
mail travels more efficiently and effectively to the geography to which the ZIP
codes is assigned. A basic ZIP code consists of five digits, and an extended
ZIP+4 code (not used in the new business list BrandNewBusinesses.com) has an additional four digits. ZIP
codes do not correlate with political boundaries like city limits and county
lines, and the post office changes them often.
Select a Date Range of New Businesses: (top)
General: On
this page, you will choose a Starting Date and an Ending Date for your list of new businesses. Your list will be made up of people who moved
during this date range.
Note: You
cannot select a Starting Date that is older than six months from the current
date. If you try to select an older date, the date in the Starting Date box
will not change.
Company Characteristics of New Businesses in Your Market: (top)
General: On this page, you can, if you wish, choose to target your new businesses in your market by one or more company criteria selections.
Keep in mind that while adding company criteria is a great way to target your list,
you will lose out on any new businesses that do
not meet the company criteria you select. So, the number of records output
for you to use in your marketing may be substantially reduced - especially if
you choose more than one criteria.
New Business Leads Contact Method: (top)
Telemarketing Listings:
Selecting this option will ensure that your new businesses leads have a valid telephone number on 100% of the records, but may not
have a valid mailing address. Use this option only if you do not intend to mail
to your list of new business.
Direct Mail Only:
Selecting this option will ensure that your new businesses in your market have a valid mailing address on 100% of the records, but may not have
a valid telephone number. Use this option only if you do not intend to call
your new business prospects.
DM and TM:
Selecting this option will ensure that your list of new businesses has both a mailing address and telephone number on 100% of the records.
Keep in mind that this will reduce the total number of new business that
might otherwise be available to you. Use this option if you intend to both mail
and call your new business prospects.
All Listings:
Selecting this option will maximize the number of new business records you will receive. However, not all records will have
either a valid address or valid telephone number.
New Business List Count Results: (top)
General: This page shows you the number of new businesses meeting your selection criteria. A count report appears at the
center of the screen showing a breakdown of your list, based on your initial
geographic selection. You have the option to print the count report or save it
as an Excel file or Adobe .pdf file. Click "Next" when you're
ready to place your order.
Keep in mind that the count report is not the actual list of new business.
It is merely a report of the number of records
that will be available to you should you decide to purchase the list. In the
following screens you will purchase your list and specify the format for
download.
